Mid Winter Sale Results
The 31st annual Eastern Mid Winter Sale survived sub freezing temperatures
and the threat of snow. The sale averaged $3,387, a slight decrease from the
1999 sale average. "This was a really good sale sale inspite of the
weather. Our crowd was significantly smaller due the extreme weather in
North Carolina and the threat of bad weather from Virginia north. The prices
were very solid with the gross sales reaching within a couple of hundred
dollars of the 199 gross. Our percentage of completed sale increasing to
nearly 80%." said Tim Jennings, Vice President of Professional Auction
Services, Inc. "The number of horses that didn’t show up for the sale was
double of the number of outs in 1999." The sale was held on January 23 & 24
at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia.
The Eastern Mid Winter Sale remains one of the strongest show horse sales in
the country. "Buyers can find more show horses and show prospects here that
at any sale in the country except the World Championship Quarter Horse Show
Sale." stated Jennings. "The horses with either show, sire or produce record
and averaged $5,248." Jennings said, “This sale one the best places in the
country to buy show horses.”
A special session was added for Cutting Horses and Team Penners. These
horses were sold as they were shown on cattle on Sunday morning. Horses
that were shown on cattle averaged $3,110.00. A special session for Western
Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle prospects averaged $3,447.97.
