The Company

Professional Auction Services, Inc. was formed in December 1978 by Mike Jennings and Tim Jennings. Since its inception, this corporation has managed over one hundred and ten horse auctions in seven states with gross sales of more than $47,000,000.00.

In 1996, Professional Auction Services, Inc. managed eleven Horse auctions in seven states, drawing horses and buyers from a wide region of the United States and Canada. Auctions produced by Professional Auction Services, Inc. are the primary market for Registered Quarter Horses on the East Coast.

Professional Auction Services, Inc. has consistently been one of the leading Quarter Horse auction firms in the United States. Gross sales for 1996 were over $6,100,000 for over 2,500 horses cataloged.

The 1996 AQHA World Championship Quarter Horse Show Sale was managed by Professional Auction Services, Inc. The results showed that it was the best World Sale ever. The Sale average was $6,957 with 80% of the horses passing through the sale ring going to new owners.

We conducted the first Auction of European Warmblood horses in North America. The sale averaged over $37,000.00 and sold two geldings for over $100,000.00 each.

In August of this year we produced the American Pony Hunter Classic, held with the AHSA MillerŐs Pony Hunter Finals. This sale averaged $5,669.00 for Show Ponies, Prospects, and Breeding Stock.

Professional Auction Services, Inc. has been registered with the Packers and Stockyards Administration (P&S) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, since 1979. We maintain the proper custodial bank accounts and Bonds in accordance with the Packers and Stockyards Act.

Professional Auction Services, Inc. is computerized and maintains an office staff of five (5) full time employees. We maintain insurance coverage for general liability, workers compensation, auto and property as well as care, custody and control insurance for the horses brought to our sales.

We have extensive experience working with the AQHA and APHA registration and transfer departments.


The Guys

As Auctioneers and Announcers, Mike and Tim have a wide range of experience and a history of involvement with American Quarter Horses.

Mike Jennings is a 1971 graduate of Superior School of Auctioneering. He is a principal Auctioneer and manager of the Equine Sales Division for Professional Auction Services, Inc. He has served as Auctioneer for many purebred horse auctions across the country. He has established a World Record Price for a Cutting Horse Broodmare and was Auctioneer at a World Record Sale of European Sport Horses. He has been Auctioneer or Announcer for Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse auctions including Heritage Place, Champion of Champions Cutting Horse Sales, Texas Thoroughbred Breeders Association Sale, Kenington Sales Company and Thoroughbred Sales Company of Ocala.

Mike has been an AQHA approved judge for sixteen years and is an NRHA judge. He was 1987 NRHA Reserve World Champion Limited Non-Pro and Reserve Champion NRHA Novice Horse Non Pro at the 1991 Quarter Horse Congress. He began showing Quarter Horses in 1967.

Tim Jennings is a 1976 graduate of Superior School of Auctioneering. He is a principal Auctioneer and manager of the Commercial Auction Division for Professional Auction Services, Inc. He has been Auctioneer at a variety of Quarter Horse and Hunter Sales on the East Coast including World Record Setting hunter pony auctions produced by the Virginia Pony Breeders Association.

Tim was Fifth Place in the 1989 AQHA Top Ten in Amateur Western Riding. He won the Amateur Western Riding at the Quarter Horse Congress and has placed at the Congress and AQHA World Championship Show in Halter and Western Riding. Tim began showing Quarter Horses in 1968.


What kind of Sale do they run?

Our Goal is to provide you the best service possible, whether you are an Amateur or a Pro, whether you have one horse or twenty.

Our staff will be available to answer your questions. We will send you information to help you use the auction process to your best advantage. When your horse comes to the sale ring, a member of our staff will be with you to walk you through the process and to help protect your interests.

We want to produce a quality auction market for show horses, ranch horses, prospects and breeding stock.

We consistently offer a high percentage of horses with show or produce records. At our 1996 Eastern Mid Winter Sale, 122 of the 375 horses offered had either show, sire or produce records.

Each year in late January, the Eastern Mid Winter Sale attracts over 4,500 people, one of the largest crowds of any Quarter Horse Sale in the country. These large crowds come for the Sale alone. It is not held in conjunction with any other event. Our other sales will draw crowds of 1,000 to 3,000 people.
