2000 Raleigh Spring Sale Results
An active crowd estimated at 3,000 people watched 181 horses sell at the
Raleigh Spring Sale, held February 26, 2000 at the North Carolina State
Fairgrounds in Raleigh.
The High Selling Horse was Hip # 59, Final Debut, a 1991 Sorrel Gelding who
had earned AQHA Open & Amateur Superior Western Pleasure awards. He was
purchased for $10,200 by Gina Smith and was sold by Judy Joyce.
The sale averaged $3,120 on horses actually sold. "This was a very solid
sale." said Tim Jennings, Vice President of Professional Auction Services,
Inc. "The middle and lower end of the market has stabilized. Show horses and
prospects were particularly strong for both Western Pleasure and Halter
Horses.” Jennings added “ I can’t think of a horse that didn’t bring what it
was worth in the sale ring. If you have that many people in this strong
market, the public is giving us a very accurate appraisal of each horses’
real value.” Aged Paint stallions continue to show weakness while Paint
yearling prices rebounded dramatically from the 1999 Raleigh Spring Sale
figures.
The Raleigh Spring Sale was managed by Professional Auction Services, Inc. of
Leesburg, Virginia. Professional Auction Services, Inc. was founded in 1978
by Mike Jennings and Tim Jennings and has managed nearly 160 Horse Auctions
with sales of over $60,000,000.00. Auctioneers for the Sale were Mike
Jennings and Tim Jennings of Professional Auction Services, Inc. and Tony
Langdon of Dallas, Texas.
